Torah with Haftarot, published by David de Castro Tartaz (Amsterdam, 1666)
The Torah with haftarot (p. 679 ff.), published by David de Castro Tartaz (Amsterdam, 1666).
This edition received rabbinic approbation for its accuracy, and was considered authoritative in its time as a tiqqun soferim (a model text from which to correct Torah scrolls). As such it was influential in the adoption of the exact letter-text of Or Torah (by Rabbi Menahem di Loznano, d. 1608) in Sephardic and Ashkenazic Torah scrolls. Furthermore, this edition of the Torah was chosen by Rabbi Menasheh Sithon in the 19th century as the point of comparison to the letter-text of the Aleppo Codex; he recorded 11 differences between them. For further information on this edition and on Sithon's list, see Yosef Ofer, "M. D. Cassuto's Notes on the Aleppo Codex". Sefunot 19 (1989), pp. 277-344 (at 309-313, 334-337); Hebrew.
